The second weekend in July here in East Price Hill means it’s time for St. Lawrence to have their annual gambling extravaganza festival. It’s a fun time for all the locals to booze up at support the local Catholic parish. Toby enjoys the rides. Robyn and I like watching Toby enjoy the rides.
I’m currently sitting in my living room, in my easy chair, feet up, laptop present, with the Reds on the radio. This is a pretty normal summer evening, as the aforementioned are common. The radio is at its normal volume…
…and I can’t hear a dadgum thing because of the amazingly terrible karaoke emanating from the festival. I think it’s the same voice that drove me insane last year. (Robyn and I wondered whether it was a male or female voice. Unsure, I walked over and took a look at the singer, and still had no idea.) He/she/it has had the mic for over 20 minutes now. He/she/it is on his/her/its 7th song. It’s the “Hidey hidey hidey hi…” song. This is after REO Speedwagon, Journey, and Neil Young’s classic “Rockin’ In The Free World”.
(Update: Song #8 is Britney’s “…Baby One More Time”, the video in which she ironically wore the Catholic schoolgirl-outfit. And if you’ll excuse me, I’ll now stick my electric screwdriver in my ear and pull the trigger.)
