First, they nixed the tuition reimbursement plan. Then, they suspended the 401k match plan, just a few months after doing away with the pension plan.
Then they suspended all company contributions to retirement plans. Then, they furloughed us.
Then, they filed bankruptcy. Somewhere in there, a hiring and wage freeze went into effect.
After the bankruptcy, employees were notified that our earned 2008 bonuses (which were 1% of our salary) for reaching minimum requirements could not legally be paid out due to said bankruptcy, and that we’d have to file a claim with the bankruptcy court in order to get paid, and that there’d be no guarantee that we’d ever see a dime of that income. (Let’s just say I’m not holding my breath.)
But the truest sign that times are tough was seen today in the can:
They made the switch to one-ply.
This is not good. Take away my pay, take away my retirement, take away my already-earned bonus… but please be gentle with my hiney.
Maybe your wife can photoshop some 2-ply for your “hiney”.

it’s how i survived college. I proudly carried my roll of charmin ultra soft toilet paper with me everytime i had “business” to do.
it was that or suffer the consequences of using abrasive tissue paper, which they called “single” ply.
