We’ve harvested some impressive veggies already this season. Impressive broccolis, cauliflowers, lettuces, peas. The biggest freaking bell pepper I’ve ever seen. But those pesky zucchinis… every day, I’ve looked to see how they’re doing, and every day, I walk away muttering “some day soon…”
Well, today was the day. Somehow, in the last 48 hours, a zucchini went from not quite ready to the biggest zucchini ever known to mankind:Over a foot long, more than 3 inches in diameter. The thing weighed like 27 pounds. Today’s yield was excellent:Fresh broccoli, fresh cauliflower, the world’s biggest zucchini, and some Roma tomatos… hmmm… can you say Veggie Pizza? It was positively righteous. I’d eat this over LaRosa’s, Donatos, Deweys, and the sort every day of the week. The only thing that could have made it better would have been massive quantities of greasy meat a nice bell pepper, but the 4 on the vine aren’t quite ready (and I’m not sure Toby is ready for a jalapeno pizza). By the end of the week, I’ll have more peppers than I know what to do with.
Now, if we can obtain a cow or a goat, we can make our own cheese, and we’ll be even more hippie than Mike Warnock. The urban garden has already been deemed a success. We’re definitely planning on expanding it for next year.
Very impressive. You actually got out the tape measure for scale, huh?
We are trying pumpkins this year and have done some interesting research. Apparently, you need a male and female vine to make a pumpkin. Go figure.
That veggie pizza looks awesome.
:salivates:
so many jokes, so few appropriate places to tell them.
The reference of hippie and Mike Warnock was HILARIOUS! We are on our 2nd honey pot (Aidan’s reference) and it made the end of our night as we lay in bed and drink wine!!
Thanks for making me laugh!!
My tomato plants aren’t doing very well.. love zucchini btw
