Chad lived next door until earlier tonight. He’s one of the most mature 23-year-old men around. He had to grow up entirely too fast, and he is clearly the most grounded and impressive person in his family.
He wants to make it big in music, as a rapper. I haven’t heard him, so I can’t say if he’s any good, but he sure as heck has the personality, drive, and intelligence to do just about whatever he wants to do.
I’m reminded tonight of what a transient neighborhood I live in. There is so little stability. People come and go so quickly. Chad’s been here pretty much his whole life, and he’s wanted to get out for a while now. I understand. Can’t blame the guy.

He asked me to help him move some of his bigger stuff to the new place. I have a truck, you know. Unfortunately, my truck is full of mulch for the hillside project. Never fear! Enter the newest member of the stable: The Swagger Wagon! Who needs a truck when you have a minivan, right???
Of course, he was counting on the truck hauling both the mattresses AND the entertainment center. Never fear! Anyone who has ever owned a Buick knows the amazing capacity those things have for hauling. It might not look pretty, but…
His money quote? “Oh no, now I really look like a ‘hood rat…” Yep. The entertainment center hanging out of the trunk of a Buick is one of those things you only find in certain neighborhoods. And I love it.
So now that everything was loaded up, it was time for the Swagger Wagon and Buck the Wonder Buick to drive past The Carbon Footprint full of mulch to deliver the large goods to their new home.
I’m gonna miss him.

*Sidenote: Chad was probably the straw that broke the camel’s back as far as me finally getting my tattoo. He took me to the parlor, introduced me to the needler, and allowed me to watch as he had some work done on himself. So, in addition to being a really good neighbor, I’ll always remember him as my tattoo connection.
I am going to sigh heavily every time the swagger wagon is mentioned.
And tell Robyn me getting to “bear a new human life…” or w/e she said is not comparable to getting a swagger wagon!
*Heavy sigh*
